Classic walk to le Moucherotte via Pas de la Berger
Slightly more interesting route round LeĀ Moucherotte than the highway that runs from Lans en Vercors.
The walk initially starts along the road but this is only for a couple of km, at which point you rapidly ascend in forest. Approaching pas de la Berger requires a bit of exposed scrambling for a couple of hundred metres, probably not recommended for children or older folk! There are obvious signs indicating the route is not recommended for horses or bikes. After reaching pas de la Berger you continue along the Combe de St Nizier until you rejoin the GR91.
Descending is through reasonably steep scree like terrain, its easy to miss the actual path on here and descend down eroded bits (like we did in a few places). Try to keep an eye on the green and yellow markings on the trees. Theres is also a new cabled section through the forest lower down to pass by some parts where the path is eroded, some people may not like this as you are quite exposed.
We detoured on the descent to have a look at the old ski jump from the 69 winter olympics. Pretty interesting structure.
