Tough continuous ascent to Lac de la Sagne, offering great views of the surrounding area, and the gateway to the lacs of Sept Laux
Details
The Guide Franck lists this walk as Easy, however be warned that the ascent is basically 1000m over ~4k, averaging about a 20% gradient. The intention was to make it to the Col de Sept Laux, however being late Autumn we only made the first lake by 3pm, so not enough time to make the col without descending in the dark. Recommended for late spring when there is more light. The ascent is in full sun so i wouldn’t recommend this in high summer!
Keep an eye out for Alpine Ibex (Bouquetin) on this route, there are apparently some 200 that inhabit the surrounding area, we saw more than 20 or so on the descent on the way back!
