Classic walk to the Lacs des Sept Laux, easier ascent than from the south (slightly!)
Two options for parking, Fond de France as we did or you can continue up to Le Pleynet, this reduces the climb slightly, but requires a few hundred metres climbing on the way back. No shops as such at Fond de France, only refreshments available are at the refuge.
The climb is average about 15-18% for around 6km, the initial climb is probably steepest, after which it evens out a bit, final part is also quite steep.
That area at the entrance to the lakes is sadly quite industrial as this is (was?) a bif EDF hydro site. Its is therefore worth carrying on to see the lacs further along, views across Lac Cottepens are good, but if you have time continue to Lac du Coc, Lac de la Corne. Other extensions to this walk include going to Lac Blanc, and/or Lac de la Belle Etoile (1.5hr extra)
