Lacs du Venetier and Coche

Scenic walk to a couple of small lakes offering great views

Details

Initial climb through the forest on a reasonably steep incline, 400m over about 3km to reach the Habert d’Aiguebelle. Here you can grab a coffee or a snack, and i think its possible to stay overnight here too.

From here continue climbing for another 400m to reach the grand lac du Venetier. Great views from here. This is the biggest lake of the 3, the two higher up are considerably smaller and less pretty. From the two lakes above it is possible to continue to climb to the Col de la Jasse (2377, 200m climb), and then the Cime de la Jasse (2478m, 100m more).

We descended back to the Habert d’Aiguebelle and then climbed the extra 200-300m to col Pas de la Coche and over to lac de la Coche. From here you can see right across to Lac du Verney, Alpe d’Huez and the surrounding mountains.
